What's New for 2017?
The Volvo S90 is officially making a comeback. It was last featured in the Volvo lineup back in 1998 but hasn't been seen since. Now back in the limelight, the S90 is ready to make its debut performance with an all-new look, all-new features and an all-new platform. The exterior of the S90 is clean and sophisticated, with eye-catching proportions and an athletic stance that begs to be driven. The upright grille blends into the hood line for a smooth, organic look that is as distinctive as Volvo's signature "Thor's Hammer" headlights. Inside the cabin, the 2017 S90 is styled very similarly to the XC90 with clean, elegant lines and sophisticated, organic contours. Real wood and metal panels adorn the interior to complete the upscale look and feel. The top-level T8 models will even sport a distinctive crystal-glass shifter knob - something we guarantee you won't find anywhere else.
Power and Performance
The all- Volvo S90 will offer a choice of three engines depending on the trim you select. In the T5 model you will find a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that can pump out 240 horsepower. The T6 model gets a supercharged and turbocharged version of that 2.0-liter inline-4 good for 316 horsepower. In the range topping T8 Twin engine models, the super- and turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder pairs up with an electric drive system rates at an impressive 400 horsepower!
Regardless of the engine, each model features a smooth shifting eight-speed automatic transmission that provides you with effortless power and a refined driving experience. Thanks to its powerful engines, the 2017 Volvo S90 is able to tow up to 3,700 pounds! The standard drivetrain on the 2017 S90 is front-wheel drive, but an all-wheel drive system with Volvo's Instant Traction system is available on T6 Momentum models and above.
Technology Features
Technology abounds in the all-new S90 sedan. This baby is packed to the ceiling with amazing tech features that will make you feel like you are piloting a spaceship! The 12.3" digital instrument cluster displays a wide range of information, including GPS navigation routes, the speedometer, tachometer and more. You will also get to choose between a standard high performance audio system or an available Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system. And all S90 models come with a six-month introductory subscription of SiriusXM® Satellite Radio, Sensus Connect, Volvo on Call and steering-wheel mounted controls for the audio system.
Safety Features
Sticking to Volvo's Vision 2020, the all-new S90 sedan is packed full of amazing safety features that will keep you, everyone in your car, other drivers and pedestrians safe. Volvo's second-generation Pilot Assist system is available across the entire S90 lineup. Pilot Assist is a semi-autonomous safety feature that can keep the S90 moving at a constant speed and distance behind a vehicle in front of it; it can also support the driver in keeping the car within its lane. The Pilot Assist system functions at speeds up to 30 miles per hour.
Other standard safety features include an Emergency Brake Light system that flashes the brake lights during panic stops, fog lights with corner function for added safety while turning at speeds up to 25 miles per hour, a road sign information system that can read supplementary road signs like speed limit, "no passing", "do not enter" and more, and then displays them on either the speedometer or the available heads up display; a run-off road mitigation system that will keep you off the shoulder; and a tire-pressure monitoring system.
Of course, the S90 also comes standard with all of the expected protective safety equipment, like a full cabin of airbags, a collapsible steering column, Volvo's advanced energy absorbing structures and interior, anti-whiplash head restraints, an automatic braking system that engages after a collision, seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters, and a reinforced passenger compartment. All 2017 Volvo S90 models also come standard with rear seat LATCH attachment areas. You can also opt to add an available dual two-stage integrated booster seat for your little ones.
